Dr. Yoon-Dae Euh is Chairman & CEO of KB Financial Group Inc. In appreciation of his extensive experience and track record in a wide spectrum of the financial industry, corporate sector, government bodies and academic sphere, he was elected as Chairman & CEO of the Group in July 2010.

 

Previously, Dr. Euh was Chairman of Presidential Council on Nation Branding and successfully enhanced Korea’s national standing through the systematic and strategic collaboration of the government, private companies and the general public since 2009. He also served as Chairman of the Steering Committee of Korea Investment Corporation (KIC) for two years from 2008.

 

Prior to his role at the KIC in 2008, Dr. Euh led various government bodies since 2005. He was Co-Chairman of the Committee on Domestic Measures for FTA with the USA, Co-Chairman of the Committee for Future & Vision at the Ministry of Information & Communication, Vice-Chair of the National Economic Advisory Council, etc.

 

From 2003, Dr. Euh served as President of Korea University for four years and his leadership has been highly recognized since.

 

He founded Korea Center for International Finance in 1999 and upon service of two years as the first President, he joined Public Fund Oversight Commission in 2001 as a Ministerial Member and played a key role until 2003.

 

His meaningful footsteps in financial world started as a Monetary Board Member of the Bank of Korea (BOK) in 1992. After his service at the BOK for three years, he assumed Board Member roles at the Korea Development Bank from 1996 to 1997, and at Korea First Bank from 1998 to 1999. He is an internationally recognized authority on Korean economy and financial industry.

 

Meanwhile, he also served as a Board Member of Hyundai Corporation and CJ Home Shopping.

 

Dr. Euh received a B.A. in Business Administration and an M.B.A. from Korea University, a Master of Business Management from the Asian Institute of Management and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.

 

Dr. Euh also holds a number of Honorary Doctoral Degrees from world renowned universities including Renmin University, Griffith University, Waseda University and Yonsei University as well as an Honorary Fellowship of College from Royal Holloway, University of London.

 

As a highly respected scholar, Dr. Euh published a number of books, articles, and academic research papers on finance, economics and management.

 

Married with two children, Dr. Euh is an avid go player and enjoys skin scuba diving.

 

Mr. Young-Rok Lim was elected as President of KB Financial Group Inc. in August 2010 in appreciation of his extensive experience with and first-hand knowledge of the Korean financial industry. He gained his in-depth financial expertise from his experiences at the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MOFE), one of the most important government agencies in Korea, where he built most of his civil career for over 30 years. Prior to joining the Group, he served as the Vice Minister of the MOFE in 2008.

 

Throughout his service at the MOFE, Mr. Lim contributed to the stability and soundness of the Korean financial industry along a path of rapid promotions to many key posts, including Deputy Minister, Director-General of the Financial Policy Bureau, and Director-General of the Economic Cooperation Bureau.

 

In addition to his distinguished career at the MOFE, Mr. Lim led the Multilateral Trade Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, where he successfully completed the signing of a Free Trade Agreement with Singapore in 2004, for which he later received a Presidential commendation.

 

As the Deputy Director-General of the Economic Policy Bureau from 2001 to 2003, Mr. Lim played a leading role in corporate reforms including Daewoo Group, thereby enhancing credibility of large corporate sector in Korea.

 

During the height of the Asian financial crisis from 1997 to 1999, he was in charge of two key divisions at the MOFE, supervising the capital markets and the banking sector, and led the all-too-important restructuring of the nation’s banking industry including merchant banks. His efforts contributed to Korea’s distinction as the first country to successfully overcome the crisis and thus setting an exemplary model for other nations to follow.

 

After completing his public service, President Lim continued his pursuit of financial research and knowledge at the Korea Institute of Finance in 2009 as a Visiting Scholar. He then applied his astute understanding of finance at a law firm, Hwang Mok Park P.C., as Senior Advisor for a year just prior to joining KB Financial Group as President.

 

Mr. Lim received a B.A. and a Master of Public Administration from Seoul National University, and an M.A. in Economics from Vanderbilt University.

 

Married with two children, Mr. Lim is a talented sportsman, enjoying a variety of sports.

Dr. Dong Chang Park joined KB Financial Group, Inc. (KBFG) as Deputy President and Chief Strategy Officer on 14 July, 2010. Additionally, he heads a “Group Change & Innovation Task Force” in charge of implementing efficiencies and reforms in group-wide business management and operations.

 

Prior to joining KBFG, Dr. Park was the founder and served as president of Korea Global Banking Research Institute for two years. He was also Global Strategy Advisor at Hana Financial Group from 2007 to 2008, a visiting fellow at Korea Institute of Finance from 2006 to 2007, and Executive Vice President of LG Investment & Securities from 2000 to 2004.

 

Dr. Park is widely regarded as an authority in the area of bank globalization due to his extensive experience with various financial institutions in Central Europe. His European banking career dates back to 1990 when he was appointed the head of a business group and a board member of Daewoo Bank in Hungary. Having helped establish the first Korean bank in the then Eastern bloc country, he was placed at the helm of Daewoo Lease there. After returning to Korea in 1995 and working as a director of the Office of Chairman of LG Group, he resumed his European banking career in 1997 as President & CEO of LG Petro Bank in Poland, growing it from a small regional bank to one of the top-five in the country by 2002, when it was sold to Nordea, a leading financial group of Denmark.

 

Based on his rich professional experience and wealth of first-hand knowledge, Dr. Park has published a number of articles, research papers, and books on the globalization of Korean financial institutions.

 

Dr. Park received a B.A. in Law from Seoul National University and an M.B.A. from Korea University. He also completed banking and finance courses at the City of London Polytechnics and received the doctoral degree in Economics at the Graduate School of International & Area Studies of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.

 

Married with two children, Dr. Park is an avid hiker who has written a book entitled “Joy of Walking Bare Foot.”

Dr. Jong-kyoo Yoon joined KB Financial Group as Deputy President & CFO in August, 2010. Dr. Yoon feels very much at home in his new position as he previously had served as CFO and Vice President of Kookmin Bank, the Group’s flagship subsidiary, from 2002 to 2004.

 

Prior to his return to this organization, he acted as a Senior Advisor for six years at Kim & Chang, Korea’s premier law firm, imparting his in-depth knowledge and seasoned experience both in banking and non-banking sectors. From 2003 to 2004 he was also a Commissioner and Director at Bank International Indonesia. His expertise covers a wide range of areas including strategic planning, financial and tax strategy, labour issues, and M&A, accumulated through his long career as banker, professor, advisor, and CPA.

 

During his three-year service at Kookmin Bank, he was a Senior Executive Vice President (CFO/CSO/ Retail Banking Head) in charge of the Bank’s strategy, financial planning, and retail banking operations. He sucessfully handled the post-merger integration between Kookmin Bank and Housing & Commercial Bank, intergration of Card business and the improvement of cross-selling capabilities such as fund and bankassurance.

 

Before joining Kookmin Bank in 2002, Dr. Yoon was an Executive Vice President and Senior Partner at Samil Pricewaterhouse Coopers, where he oversaw many financial restructurings of banking institutions and corporate workout programs during the Asian financial crisis of 1997. In 1991 he received the “Best Independent Auditor” award from the Korean Listed Companies Association.

 

He also advised the Korean Government, Financial Supervisory Service and non-profit organizations on taxation, accounting and financial-planning issues.

 

Dr. Yoon has authored numerous articles and books on tax, accounting, and other related issues and is fluent in both English and Japanese.

Mr. Wang-Ky Kim joined KB Financial Group in August 2010 as Deputy President and Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), bringing with him nearly 30 years of journalism career as well as his knowledge and experience in the areas of economy, business, and banking. As CPRO, Mr. Kim is in charge of strategic planning for brand value, corporate image & culture, press relations and investor relations.

 

Prior to joining KB Financial Group, Mr. Kim served the Korean government as Assistant Minister & Spokesman for the Office of Prime Minister for two years since 2008. In 2006, he became a member of the Deliberation Committee for National Audit Request at the Board of Audit and Inspection of Korea for three years. He also was a member of the Advisory Committee for Industrial Policy at the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, the Tax Development Deliberation Committee at the Ministry of Strategy and Economy, the Advisory Committee for Information and Telecommunications Policy, etc.

 

He also served as a non-standing director at the Korea Agro-Fisheries Trading Corporation (aT), a government-run business entity, Hankyong WOW-TV, Korea’s leading economy-related cable-TV network, and IBK Investment & Securities Co. His activities also covered the Advisor for the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI), the Federation of Small & Medium Businesses, and the World Futures Forum.

 

Mr. Kim began his career in journalism in 1978 at The Korea Herald, Korea’s oldest English-language newspaper, and spent most of his career at the JoongAng Ilbo, one of the leading media groups in Korea. His career highlights at the media group include directing the IHT-JoongAng Daily, the English-language newspaper the group produces in cooperation with the International Herald Tribune, for three years since 2005.

 

Besides managing the English daily as Executive Director, he was the media group’s Director for Strategic Planning, as well as editorial writer, economic special reporter and editor of business and economic desks for the JoongAng Ilbo.

 

In 2005, Mr. Kim became a professor of journalism at Korea National Open University, and still finds time to teach. He also took a role as a member of the Recommendation Committee for Chairman Candidates at the Korea Exchange, aT, Koscom, etc.

 

Mr Kim received his B.A. in Journalism from Korea University and his M.A. from Ajou University, and studied Journalism at the University of Missouri at Columbia.

 

He has three writings, including ‘Is Korean economy losing ground? (1993)’, ‘Hidden story, economy of Korea’s 6th Republic (1995)’ and ‘News Writing and Reporting (2006)’.

 

Married with two children, Mr. Kim is an avid golfer.

As Deputy President & Chief Information Officer (CIO) of KBFG, Mr. Ryu Seok-heung brings with him 30 years of experience in banking-focused information technology. Mr. Ryu built his three-decade IT career exclusively at Kookmin Bank (KB), the principal subsidiary of the Group, playing the leading role in the development of the bank’s state-of-the-art IT infrastructure.

 

At KB, he successfully completed establishing next-generation IT system that encompasses internet banking, groupware, EDW, and business management operations, the conception of which began in 2007 when he designed it as the head of a development task force.

 

Mr. Ryu’s IT expertise also figured prominently in KB’s acquisitions of local banks, during the height of the Asian financial crisis, in which uninterrupted electronic banking transactions are all too essential. In fact, he created the first internet-based virtual banking system in Korea. In 1987 he won a Prime Minister prize in a government-organized software contest.

 

Mr. Ryu has a BS in Electronics from Hongik University, an MBA in IT Management from Sogang University, and completed the business management course for executives at Dale Carnegie Research Center.

Mr. Min-ho Lee is Deputy President/Chief Compliance Officer responsible for all compliance and legal matters concerning KBFG. Mr. Lee joined KBFG from Kookmin Bank (KB) in January 2010.

 

At KB, Mr. Lee served as General Counsel beginning in 2005. During his five-year tenure as the top legal officer, Mr. Lee handled and supervised all material legal issues and major litigations involving KB. His high rate of success in defending KB in major legal proceedings, including the so-called “Lotto case,” and in several tax appeal cases, has contributed a great deal to building the bank’s stellar brand image as well as ensuring its sound financial health.

 

Prior to joining KB, Mr. Lee was a senior attorney at Kim & Chang, Korea’s premier law firm, where he represented major banks and financial institutions in both domestic and international capital markets and structured financing transactions. His practice focused on structured financial transactions involving M&A, ship financing, and equipment leasing. He also advised foreign banks operating in Korea on complicated regulatory issues and corporate law matters.

 

Previously Mr. Lee worked as an accountant at Samil Pricewaterhouse Coopers, a Korea’s prestigious accounting firm and as an international associate at the headquarters of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, a New York law firm. In these positions he was able to gain experience in and knowledge of international legal and accounting practices.

 

Mr. Lee received a B.A. in Economics and a Master of Business Administration from Seoul National University. He also received an LL.M from Columbia Law School. He is a member of the Korean Bar Association and the State Bar of California. He is also a member of the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Dr. Yang Won-Keun joined KBFG in September 2010 as the Senior Managing Director of Research. As the head of the Group’s economics and banking research center, Dr. Yang brings with him a wealth of research experience backed by a first-rate academic training.

 

Dr. Yang’s professional research experience, dating back to 1992 right after he received a Ph. D in Finance from Georgia State University, is marked with major career milestones highlighting his expertise and achievements.

 

Prior to joining KBFG, Dr. Yang served as Management Adviser at Daewoo Securities, a KDB subsidiary, and as Standing Audit Committee Member at Woori Bank. Dr. Yang’s professional relationship with that major commercial bank goes back to 2000 when he was Director General in charge of overseeing the establishment of Woori Financial Group.

 

Dr. Yang also was an Executive Director and board member of Korea Deposit Insurance Company (KDIC), where he had been the Director of the research department. In 1998 he briefly acted as a Senior Counselor to the Minister of Finance & Economy of the Korean Government prior to joining KDIC as the head of research.

 

He began his research career at the Korean Institute of Finance in 1992, where he was in charge of research in the Banking Division.

 

Dr. Yang has published numerous research articles on banking in many professional journals, both domestic and overseas. In addition to a Ph. D. in Finance, he has a B.A. in Economics from Korea University.

Mr. Yong Jin Cho is the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) of KB Financial Holding Company in charge of strategic planning for human resources management and employee synergy creation, and performing audits of KB Financial Group. He was appointed as CHRO in January 2012 after assuming the role as HR Manager and Manager of Management Support Office in KB Financial Group. Prior to his latest appointment, Mr. Cho had worked for 25 years at KB Kookmin Bank, the Group’s flagship subsidiary, accumulating professional know-how and building up a corporate career that entailed diverse capacities.

 

Mr. Cho was appointed as the first HR Manager of the holding company in September 2008. He hired employees for the company and laid a foundation for workforce of the company by designing an HR system.

 

From August 2010, he successfully performed management support activities like provision of quality management information, management monitoring and feedback as Manager of Management Support Office.

 

While working for KB Kookmin Bank, Mr. Cho served as Head of Nakseongdae Branch of the bank from February 2006 to July 2008 and Head of Seojamsil Branch from October 2009 to July 2010. He was awarded a New Branch Head Prize in 2007 for his outstanding marketing performance and leadership skills and greatly increased performance of the branch.

 

He played a leading role in the integrated human resources management in relation with the Long-term Credit Bank M&A and the Kookmin Bank-Korea Housing Bank merger and contributed to the spread of the performance culture through the design and implementation of a new assessment system following the merger. This show how he successfully performed his duties for HRM (Human Resources Management) to foster “a desirable organization culture” for a long time and why he has been recognized as one of the best experts in HR, which made him appointed as CHRO of the Group and served as a foundation for him to fulfill his duties now.

 

Mr. Cho received a B.A. in Public Administration from Korea University in 1986 and an M.A. in Human Resources Management from SEMBA in 2005. Married with two children, he enjoys building social relationships through playing golf.

Mr. Kyung-Sup Han joined KB Financial Group Inc. as CRO in August, 2011. Prior to joining the KBFG, he led Risk Management Division in Kookmin Bank for over two years. He also chaired Risk Management Council and served as a secretary of the Risk Management Committee.

 

His expertise comes from working experience in risk management field in the bank for more than 10 years. He is well known as an experienced risk management expert in Korea.

 

After studying Financial Engineering at KAIST, he started his risk management career as a credit risk manager in January, 2000, just after the Asian financial crisis.

 

Then he served as a Market Risk Team Head, following Deputy General Manager in charge of bank-wide risk management strategy and planning, risk capital management, etc.

 

From 2004 as General Manager of Risk Capital Department, he initiated and led the implementation of latest risk models such as credit rating (scoring) models and various systems and infrastructures sufficient to the requirement of Basel II.

 

Under his leadership, the Risk Capital Department achieved remarkable feats of getting approval for the use of internal models; Market Risk Model in 2005, Credit Risk IRB Model in 2007, and the Operational Risk Advanced Model in 2008. Those approvals from FSS (Financial Supervisory Service) were the first among Korean Banks.

 

Based on these accomplishments, he was awarded with “The best Risk Manager in 2007” from the KARP (Korea Association of Risk Professionals). His outstanding contribution to the risk management of the Bank led to distinguished awards for Kookmin Bank; “House of the Year” for 2 consecutive years (2008 and 2009) from Asia Risk Magazine, a magazine of authority in Asia.

 

Mr. Han has a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Inha University, a Master’s degree in Financial Engineering from KAIST.

 

Managing Director Dong Cheol Lee heads the Strategic Planning Department at KB Financial Group, overseeing the Group’s strategy, M&A, and global operations. In January 2012, he was appointed as an executive officer of the Group. Mr. Lee had been with KB Kookmin Bank for 18 years before joining the holding company in September 2008.

 

Mr. Lee has built up his career as a specialist in strategy at the Bank that he joined in 1990. In 2004, he was assigned to the branch manager of the Bank’s New York branch. After coming back from the U.S, he was appointed to lead the Bank’s Strategic Planning Department. During his two years overseeing the Bank’s strategic planning, he gained a wealth of experience in strategic alliance, organizational management, subsidiary management, and M&A, including participation in the successful acquisition of Hannuri Investment & Securities that led to the establishment of KB Investment & Securities.

 

In 2007, he was named as the head of the “Holding Company Establishment Office,” responsible for setting up a financial holding company structure. Following the successful transition into the holding company structure in 2008, he was put in charge of the Group’s Strategic Planning operations. In 2009, he was reassigned to KB Kookmin Bank to manage a domestic branch where he demonstrated his exceptional marketing ability by producing outstanding business results.

 

In 2010, he returned to the holding company to lead the Group’s Financial Planning & Management Department. Six months later, he became the head of Strategic Planning Department where he oversaw the successful completion of “Group’s Change & Innovation,” a group-wide management revamping effort, and the establishment of KB Savings Bank upon the Group’s acquisition of a local savings bank.

 

Mr. Lee received a B.A. in Law from Korea University, an LLM from Tulane Law School in the U.S., and passed the New York State bar examination in 1999. He worked at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, a U.S. law firm, as a dispatched employee for a year from 2002.

Mr Kyu Sul Choi is Managing Director and Head of Investor Relations at KB Financial Group Inc. Mr Choi joined Kookmin Bank, the largest subsidiary of KB Financial Group, at the end of 2002 as the Head of Investor Relations and led the team for 2 years. After running the bank’s ALM dept. for over a year, he reassumed his current position in 2006 through the formation of the holding company in September 2008.

 

Prior to joining Kookmin Bank, Mr Choi built up an extensive wealth of banking knowledge and experience at Korea First Bank, Banque Paribas, and Bank of America.

 

At Korea First Bank, following his overseas assignments at the London and New York branches, Mr Choi headed treasury & capital markets and risk management. His 12-year career at the bank, since 1991, included such key areas as planning, ALM, corporate finance & project finance, and off-balance sheet product management.

 

As a highly respected trader, he served various key positions in treasury & capital markets at the Seoul branches of Banque Paribas and Bank of America from 1986 to 1991.

 

Mr Choi has received a B.A. in Business Administration from Yonsei University.
